Inspiration for my
ceramic sculptures comes from an acute sensitivity to our natural
surroundings. I study features of organic objects, exploring surface
and pattern to capture the life and movement they engender. The
discovery is designed to engage viewers with impressionistic thoughts
reminiscent of something deeply familiar.
My work combines inanimate shapes with an organic vocabulary to expose
and communicate the innate natural foundation that forms the human
experience. Unusual textures and presentation are used to achieve
striking effects. Combined with colors that mimic the natural world,
each piece is given a unique character and identity. I want the viewer
to find connection through latent personal experience and imagery.
My goal is to explore, express and recapture forms found in nature. To
build ceramic sculptures that imply and interpret organic processes,
bringing the viewer to recognize the natural systems that support all
life.
