Having studied at the Herron School of Art, I received my BFA in ceramic sculpture in 2003. One month later I partnered with a painter and opened Mad Lab Studio, an independent pet portrait retailer out of Indianapolis.
Realizing the demands for my own work, I moved South and created my own business, Hadley Clay Studio. I am now a full-time studio artist bringing sculpture and joy to the homes and gardens of art collectors across the country. I happily make my home on Tybee Island, Georgia with my kiln and two dogs.
"These pieces are me—they are expressions of who I am. These small
animals have my own naiveté, innocence and spontaneity. Further beneath
the surface, they all bear wounds and scars, permanent lines rendered
awkwardly across their faces and bodies. Yet, against this backdrop an
inner beauty shines through. Glossy, shimmering, bright colors, and
cute, childlike expressions suggest true personal transformation." -
