Hi! I'm Roxy, and I've been elected by my co-workers/family to tell
you about us. Wind chime making has
been a way of life for my family
long before I ever showed up on the scene. My parents, Ted & Jean,
started making chimes back in 1970. How did they ever come up with this
crazy idea? They saw some jewelry made from melted down medicine
bottles and Jean decided that she just had to learn how to melt down
bottles. If you met my mother you’d understand that once she focuses on
something it’s impossible to get her to relent until you’ve figured out
how to do what she wants. So Ted ruined some kiln shelves and finally
figured out how to make it work. From there it was just a matter of
dumpster diving to get the goods (don’t worry firing the glass up to
1500 degrees burns off all the germs- promise) and making lots of wind
chimes. Back when they first got started they lived in central Florida
and had their first two daughters, Donna & Kim. This has always
been a family business, and as soon as Donna & Kim could reach the
bottle tub, mom & dad had them cleaning those dumpster bottles.
Needless to say we’ve all learned about broken glass from a very early
age.
